Homeschool Week in the Life

As a YouTuber, I see a lot of week in the life and day in the life videos, but I don't see blog posts to often, so I decided to share our week with you.  First, let me let you know our week may not be that exciting to you but it was to us.  LOL For those of you that don't know we are a family of 6 so even when we aren't doing anything we are doing something.  I've learned to never say today is going to be my rest day.  As soon as I do a million things come up, ugh!  I can't be the only one.  You get it don't you?  One thing I can say is at the end of each day no matter how easy or hard, good or bad, sad or happy, I can say thank you Lord for this life!

Sunday, January 07, 2018 Church, we go to church every Sunday.  My youngest daughter was invited to a birthday party so after church that's where we went.  The party was at a gymnastics studio so there was a ton of running, flipping, and bouncing.  It was so much fun and the kids burned off lots of energy.  This party was totally worth missing out on our Sunday nap.  What, you don't take Sunday naps?  I look forward to them every Sunday there is no better nap than a Sunday nap!  After the party, we came home, watched some Andy Griffth, showered, and went to bed.

Monday, January 08, 2018 We started a new week of school.  Monday is when I sit down with each kid and go over any corrections that need to be made in the previous week's work.  I also go over their new spelling words to be sure they know how to pronounce them correctly.  That evening the kids volunteered at Teen Court.  Teen Court is a second chance trial for teens who may have received a traffic ticket, drug paraphilia, and in worst cases assault fines.  It is set up the same way an adult court session would be you have a judge, jury, defending attorney, prosecuting attorney, and of course the defendant.  The kids enjoy participating and they have gained a lot of knowledge on the justice system.

Tuesday, January 09, 2018, Grocery shopping day, I don't normally grocery shop on, Tuesdays but we had a busy schedule this weekend so I didn't get around to going.  My daughters are responsible for cooking breakfast and lunch and I cook dinner.  So they are given a budget and they shop for the groceries they need according to their meal plan for the week and I shop for dinner and anything else we need.  This can count as home economics, right?  After getting the groceries put away we schooled.  The kids worked on Spelling, Math, English,  History, and Music.  Tuesday is music day my oldest plays the violin and my 3 younger kids play the recorder.  Yes, it gets loud real quick!

Wednesday, January 10, 2018, This was a very relaxed day.  We did not get around to group work (Bible, History, Science, Art) because I had planned on doing it that evening, however, my husband wanted to have a family game night so, that's what we did.  I've learned as a homeschool mom that some days don't go as planned and that is ok.  Family time is important so I'd rather enjoy my hubby and kids than stress about my plans being interrupted. So, we battled it out on the Xbox, we are all very competitive so it gets heated around here on game nights.  I'm undefeated on Injustice!!! Well, my oldest daughter beat me only because I let her, I didn't want to take my husband on for a second round.  I have to hold on to my "W" LOL The kids did do their individual work that morning, though.

We will be celebrating our youngest son's 9th birthday this weekend hence me getting this post up early.  I still can't believe our baby will be 9 already!!  I'm having mixed emotions about this!  I pray you all are having a fantastic week thus far.  Let me know if you guys would like for us to share our weekly meal plans and grocery hauls with you all.
