My Thoughts
There is nothing like a good encouraging book. I enjoy sitting on my porch in the mornings spending time with God and then reading a good book. God Schooling made for a good porch buddy.Julie Polanco focuses on natural learning. She touches on things for each age group. Like all self-help books, we have to use what applies or can help our family and not try to force change where it is not needed. Of course, there were things that she touched on that I agreed with and some things that I didn't. That doesn't mean she was wrong it just didn't apply to our family. I love the way she spoke from her personal experience, but I didn't like the way it came off as if her way is the only right way. She may not have meant it that way at all, in fact, it could be because she has over 15 years experience in this area, but that is what it seemed. One of my favorite chapters is chapter 5. In this chapter, Julie talks about allowing our teens to grow up. I am guilty of babying all of my kids, but I know there are some areas I need to allow them to grow in with my guidance, of course. She also talks about preparing for college, transcripts, how to not to spend an arm and a leg on college, and so much more. Overall I think it is a good book and I would recommend to new and veteran homeschool moms.
