Why we made the decision to homeschool

My husband and I are asked all the time, why we choose to homeschool our kids, and it's always hard for me to narrow it down to just one reason because, there's so many reasons. I mean we know why we chose to homeschool it's just that when trying to put it in words so that others would understand, even though we really don't have to explain ourselves to others, it's  hard.   However, I do know that some people just genuinely want to know why we made the decision after having our kids in public school.  So, after praying about it and just leaving it alone the Lord put this on my heart.
“Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.”
‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭22:13‬ ‭KJV‬

When we disobey the Lord and disregard His Word we are not only hurting ourselves, but we are causing struggles for our children, our children's children, and so on. So, that's generations of issues and struggles. Now, think about what happens when we do obey His Word.  Our children will have a solid foundation set for them and they won't have to carry the same burdens, struggles, and hurt as we did, the joy of the Lord can be their  strength.  When they go through certain things, because they will, (none of us are perfect) they will have the Word hidden in their heart and they're able to use that along with the examples they've seen. The best way to teach your children is by example.  OMGoodness!! I've heard so many times, do as I say, not as I do. Ugh!  That is like one of the craziest things I've ever heard. Children are little impersonators, they want to do everything they see mama and daddy do. They love us, and because most of the time we have the most influence over them, especially when they are younger, they are going to do exactly what they see us do. They are soaking it all in. Boys need to learn how to become hard-working men,  who provide for a family (his wife and his children), protector of their homes,  they need to be taught that they will be the head of their home and responsible for teaching God's Word to their families.
Girls need to be taught how to be keepers of their home, how to nurture and love their children, how to be chaste, how to put the needs of others before their own, how to be submissive to their own husband, and how not to nag, but instead pray for their husband. Kids need to learn how to respect and be obedient to authority.  This all starts at home, by the example we set.  We can say it all day long, but if we are not living by it then it's going in one ear and out the other. We want our children to bring glory and honor to the Lord, we don't need to fit in with everyone else, as long as our life is lining up with the Word then I'm content.  The reason we homeschool our children is so that we can be the great influence in their lives and teach them the Word of God, so that they may teach their children and their children will teach their children, so that we can bring glory and honor to His name.

So, now I ask you, why do you homeschool?

  3. It sounds like you put a lot of prayer and thought into your decision. If that is what works best for your children and your family, I think that's great.
