SchoolhouseTeachers.com Yearly Membership Review

     Hey, Y'all!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!  I just can't believe we are already in 2018!  Has your family started back schooling, yet?  We officially started last Monday, but we warmed up some through December to help keep us motivated.  We are adding a few things to our homeschool this semester one of those things being flexibility in our learning.  I admit I still, after 4 years of homeschooling, I have not mastered this skill, yet.  Well,  I was recently accepted to be apart of the Homeschool Review Crew, which gives me the opportunity to receive and review curriculum for our readers, that's you guys!  What better way to exercise our flexibility in learning?  So, my children and I were blessed to try out SchoolhouseTeachers.com Yearly Membership.  This is an online product with downloadable, printable elements as well as online classes and video components.  It has things for preschool all the way through 12th grade, but even better it has a ton of stuff for parents, too including a planner.  My oldest has used the SchoolhouseTeachers.com site the most and is really enjoying it.  She's using it for her foreign language and violin, but has explored the other high school elements and can't wait to try them out.

High-quality, Self-paced, Online Homeschool Resources {SchoolhouseTeachers.com}

     My oldest daughter who is in 9th grade is really loving the whole site, however, I am only letting her take two online electives this semester.  She's taking Violin and her foreign language, French.  Her favorite is the Violin course with Mrs. Nancy.  Here is what she had to say about that course.  "Mrs.  Nancy's violin class is great.  I love how she goes at a slower pace for quick understanding, but not too slow where it's boring.  The only thing that I dislike about the class is that the lessons are very short, however, the advantage to that is that they are straight to the point.  I really love the fact that she included her Skype information in case we need extra practice.  I think the beneficial part of the class is that it is on video so that you can hear, pause, and rewind if need be.  I'm looking forward to more of this class!"  I am thrilled that she is enjoying this class.  It is exciting for me because I haven't been able to find her a violin course since I pulled her from public school.  The majority of the classes are way above our budget.  So I am especially grateful for this.

     I babysit my two-year-old niece during the week, so she "schools" with us.  This was an adjustment for me because none of my children were toddlers when we started homeschooling.  She is so much fun and she loves learning and trying to do things on her own.  I am always trying to find things that she is interested in, so when I saw that Schoolhouse Teachers had a Preschool Playground I was super excited!  They offer Bible, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Motor Skills, Art, Crafts, Music, and so much more.   It can be used as a full Preschool Curriculum or you can use it however you'd like.  We are enjoying using it for what I call "an attention grabber", again she's only 2 so we are not forcing her to "school', but she does like to join in with us.  We are currently enjoying the All about Shapes Course, each lesson is broken down by shapes, so, for example, Lesson one is about Circles.  I love that the lesson is basically all planned out for you, it gives you the definition of the shape, book recommendations, ways to introduce the shape, foods to eat that are in that shape, things to do for older and younger preschoolers, and even suggestions for objects you can play with.  It's full of great information, but not to the point that it's overwhelming.

     A couple of the other features I like are World Book Resources and the Video Library.   Schoolhouse Teachers provides a free subscription to a lot of World Book libraries free of charge to its members. Listen, the  World Book is the bomb.com (that means it's fantastic)!  We are currently learning about the ancient times so, I searched Ancient Egypt and it provided us with a wealth of information and it is formatted so that my kids can understand it.  We also enjoy the games, especially the times up math game, because my kids are so competitive.  The Video Library compiles all the videos from the different providers into one spot.  This is extremely helpful for us because we don't have to go searching through courses just to find a specific video that we're looking for.

  3. That's great that your children can use this to learn violin. I play the violin and am very thankful for the money my parents spent on lessons so I could learn how to play.
